Tips Industries was established in 1975 as a small shop in the Lamington Road market. The Taurani brothers traded in LPs (long-playing phonograph records) for three of the biggest companies in India HMV (now Saregama), Music India (now Universal Music Group), and CBS (now Sony Music). In 1990, Tips set up its first manufacturing facility at Palghar, Thane.
